To steal it would have been, yes. But if one resonates with you, you are welcome to take it.

As for what... it is in my nature to create Life, and so these crystals are manifest of that. They do have energon in their composite, but they are not purely energon. Some of them have decided they will grow better when in contact with liquid energon, however.

[ Which explains the scattered puddles of liquid in the garden. At least Quintessa has contained it in bowls and dishes so it's not just running across the floor. ]

They're living crystals? Do they ring at a certain frequency? Now you mention it, I think I've seen similar ones in some old history documents from ancient Cybertron.

[ That's fine, Quintessa doesn't push it. If she needs the crystals to be in someone's possession, there are other ways to make that happen. ]

They are alive, yes— but not not sapient. As I mentioned to Riptide, I assumed the captain would not wish to see an even further artificially inflated population here. Instead, these require a low but continuous source of energy to maintain them.

[ A light laugh at the question about the crystal's frequency. ]

Are you sure you don't want one to examine, doctor?

I got enough work to do at the moment. Besides, what's the harm in a friendly conversation about your garden?

[he hums.]

Have you had many of them taken?

You are indeed very busy... you have become a keystone on this ship. You are bridging gaps between many different people.

There is no harm, I was merely curious.

A few of them. They resonate with people for different reasons... if the crystals bring some measure of happiness, I would rather them be with that person than anywhere else.

[he falls silent again for a moment.]

Maybe I will just come and take a look, then. I've seen the one you gave to a crewmember and it struck me. Got me interested in it all, ya know?

That is an interesting extension of the typical medic requirements, I would think. You should not think less of yourself, Ratchet, simply because others have done that to you in the past. I would see you value your own worth.

[SURPRISE: he does! ratchet saunters into the crystal garden like he owns the place, though he has a crobar (?) shoved into his subspace. if quintessa is aware of it, maybe she'll also be aware of the fact he's only brought it because of the stories of the crystal doubles from crystal city bumblebee had told him about. he has no intention of fighting anything otherwise.]

[ Quintessa, on the other hand, finds discussing Ratchet (and everyone else) extremely entertaining, and is not likely to stop any time soon. ]

It was rude, but you are forgiven. My name is Quintessa, and I am the Prime of Life.

[ She drifts into view, the lower part of her robe moving like kelp underwater, curling around her. It's pretty, but also extremely disconcerting to watch. ]

Primus is how you call the entity within Cybertron, yes. But I am more of an... architect, of your kind. The one who shaped your race.

[ She drifts closer to him, as if knowing that he might appreciate a closer look. ]
